Acupuncture is part of traditional Chinese medicine. Its main idea is to correct the flow of energy in the meridians (energy channels) or create a reflexological effect. Acupuncture points can be found along the 2 times 12 body meridians and 2 central meridians across the body. Almost all fingers and toes are linked to a meridian, that is why I often use points on the hands, legs, spine and head to stimulate by a needle.
Acupuncture needles are very slim, much more so than an injection needle so it is less painful to use. Certain points of insertion patients do not feel at all, and rarely any pain. During electro-acupuncture I apply electrical stimulation at the tip of the needle by the help of a small device. In moxa therapy I approach the problematic area of the body and give heat by a herbal stick similar to the shape of a cigarette. In this case stimuli will be heat instead of a needle. In the course of cupping I place vacuum bells on defect points which have a sucking effect on the skin. Such vacuum bells are also used in massages, as by moving them around, we can cover larger areas of the body. Laser-acupuncture I generally use with children to exclude their increased reaction to fear. I apply ear acupuncture to complement body acupuncture or use permanent needles to treat addictions or difficulty to lose weight. The ear is the most effective reflex zone on our body.
